Makeup Tip No 30: Airbrush foundation should be applied gradually with a very light mist. When applying, pause often to check the coverage before adding more. For more coverage, airbrush another thin layer of foundation onto the face, as opposed to applying one thick application.
Makeup Tip No 31: Cream blush is especially good for mature women with dryer skin. This makeup blush adds another layer of protection, nourishment and beauty to your face. To apply the cream blush, dot it on your cheek bone then use a brush to blend up and out in circular motion into the apple and cheekbone area. Blend the cream blush into your hairline.
Makeup Tip No. 28: Spice up your smoky eye in a fresh new way with the addition of a metallic or shimmery eyeliner. Or, use a colored shadow for your smoky eye look, such as blue or purple, instead of the standard black or grey.
Makeup Tip No 29: Dual products are your friend. If you can use a product on more than one feature on your face, it’s one less product you have to use in the morning and one less product you have to take in your handbag.
Makeup Tip No. 27: Cleanse Day and Night. Removing your makeup every night is a must. Firstly remove your eye makeup and then splash your face with a little warm water first then add cleanser to remove the rest of your makeup. Choose a cleanser that is gentle yet effective for your skin type.
★Makeup Tip No 26: To really define your eyes, apply a thin line of eyeliner in black or brown, khaki, plum or navy. To properly apply the eyeliner pencil, gently pull the corner of your eye outward, forming a straight line along your lashes. Starting at the inside corner and working toward the outside, delicately trace a line with the pencil angled toward your lashes.
Makeup Tip No 25: To keep your lip color from feathering, use a Lip Liner to line the lips and use a Lip Brush to blend and soften hard edges. You can also line the lip first before applying lipstick for longer-lasting color and gloss.
Makeup Tip No 24: Apply concealer then a little powder on your eyelids before you put on shadow. This prep step will smooth the skin’s surface and allow the eye shadow to go on smoother and stay on much longer on the eyelid.
Makeup Tip No 23: Using a soft cotton tip with a drop of makeup remover, carefully remove eye shadow dust, mascara speckles etc from underneath the eye area. This will ensure a clean, precise and polished appearance to your eye make up.
Makeup Tip No 22: Foundation is made to accentuate your features. In order to find a perfect match for your foundation you must test it on your face. Makeup should blend with the colour of your neck, not the face so that’s why testing it on your wrist is wrong. Don’t make your mind up instantly as it takes about a minute to dry and to react with the chemicals in your skin.
Makeup Tip No 21: Whatever the look always start with a small amount of eyeshadow on your brush and build up the colour gradually by patting it onto the eye not flicking the colour.
Makeup Tip No 20: For a basic mascara application use a zig zag wiggling motion to work a generous amount of mascara onto the roots of your lashes getting as close to the lash line as you can then sweep the brush out to the tips.
Makeup Tip No 19: In your twenties look for skincare with protective ingredients such as antioxidants. In your thirtes it should be skincare with anti ageing ingredients and in your forties it should be skincare that is very hydrating.
Makeup Tip No 18: Apply liquid eyeliner along the upper lash line extending up and out at the outer corners. This will create a feline look and also give your eyes a lift. A small size angled brush is the best brush to achieve this look.
Makeup Tip No 17: The dry and cold air in winter can drain essential moisture from the skin. Some skin care tips are; -Use SPF sunscreen on all visible parts of the body. -Keep your skin nourished by using good quality CREAM cleansers and moisturisers as they are thicker in texture. -Also an ancient Chinese herbal remedy for detoxification during winter is drinking a glass of hot water with lemon.
Makeup Tip No 16: The most flattering shades of blush are anything with warmth, such as corals, pinks and peaches. Apply with a powder brush that is small enough to create an even diffusion of colour.
Makeup Tip No 15: Luminising creams or liquids are a fantastic way to help you project radiance. Blend golden tones into your foundation to give the illusion of a fresh face, and even work it into your décolletage.
Makeup Tip No 14: Using a water resistant eyeliner and mascara will ensure there is minimal smudging underneath the eye. Also look for products that contain beeswax, as this will help to condition and nurture your lashes
Makeup Tip No 13: Always use a brow color that is as natural looking as possible. The main objective is to define not create over-powering brows. To fill in, comb first, then use feather like strokes with your pencil to fill in. To create a more natural look, comb again after applying the pencil.
Makeup Tip No 12: When applying blush to the apples of the cheeks, avoid clown-like circles by patting the product onto the cheek in little motions instead of a continuous circle
Makeup Tip No. 11: Find a perfect red lipstick for you. Reds on the pinkish side are ideal for blondes. Warm orange based reds are divine on olive and caramel skin tones. Deep burgundy reds look better on darker skin tones and a vivid cool blue red lipstick looks stunning on everyone. Blue reds can make your teeth look whiter.
Makeup Tip No. 10: Always apply two coats of mascara to your lashes, but make sure to allow the first coat to dry prior to the second coat. This will avoid clumping.
Makeup Tip No. 9: To eliminate unwanted dark circles under the eye area use a orange based concealer. To reduce redness and to cover blemishes use a yellow based concealer.
Makeup Tip No. 8: Lining the inner rim of the eye with white eyeliner will make the eyes appear larger and brighter as it reduces redness.
Makeup Tip No. 7: Invest in a great primer not only does it allow for a smooth makeup landing, it also prevents foundation from sweeping into the pores and ensures it lasts for ages.
Makeup Tip No. 6: To make your cheekbones really pop, contour beneath them in the hollow of the cheek with a bronzer. Then highlight the highest point of your cheekbone including around the eye area with a lighter shade or even a shimmering powder.
Makeup Tip No. 5: For a fuller and poutier looking lip, apply your concealer on the lipline to highlight the natural contours.
Makeup Tip No. 4: To really set your eyeliner pencil and keep it from smudging everywhere, layer it with some eyeshadow in the same shade.
